Penticton RCMP is asking for the public's help in identifying a suspect who intentionally set fire near several homes last month.
On July 6, just after midnight, emergency crews say they responded to a brush fire in the area of Brandon Avenue and McGraw Street. The fire was quickly doused, but investigators have since determined the blaze was intentionally set, police added.
Surveillance footage in the area shows the suspect arriving on a "unique" motor scooter shortly before the fire sparked, according to RCMP. However, the image of the suspect is not clear.
鈥淲e are asking anyone who may have seen or heard anything suspicious in the early morning hours of July 6 to contact the Penticton RCMP,鈥 said Cst. Kelly Brett. 鈥淓ven small details, especially about the motor scooter, could help move this investigation forward.鈥
RCMP added that it hopes someone may recognize the suspect, based on the "distinct style or appearance of the scooter."
Anyone with information that could help investigators, including about the scooter, is asked to contact Penticton RCMP at 250-492-4300.
