The postal workers' union says planned bargaining for Friday has been postponed for the Crown corporation to review offers. 

The Canadian Union of Postal Workers, in an update Thursday (Aug. 21), said that the negotiations with Canada Post planned for Friday would be postponed until Monday. The two parties had returned to the bargaining table on Wednesday, with plans for further discussions on Friday and Monday. 

"While we had planned to meet again tomorrow, Canada Post has told us today that it needs more time to review our offers," the statement reads. 

The union and Canada Post will return to the bargaining table on Monday, Aug. 25. 

It was at the that Canada Post has received the union's response to the "best and final" offers presented by the corporation on May 28.

Combined demands for the union's urban workers and the rural and suburban workers included a nine-per-cent increase for wages in year one, four per cent in year two and three per cent in each of years three and four.

The union was also calling for an update to the cost of living allowance provision to include protection for the period of Feb. 1, 2025 to Jan. 31, 2028 for insurance against unforeseen inflation.
