Creekside Park in Coldstream has been turned into a shredder's paradise for the second annual Lillyfest Saturday, Aug. 30.
The one-day event began at 1 p.m. and features a skateboard competition hosted by Okanagan Skate Co., a stage with live music playing throughout the day, vendors from the Polson Artisan Market, and a food market featuring a number of trucks.
The festival was held in Polson Park last year, but organizer Noah MacLeod of Local Losers Underground said the new location has proven to be an ideal spot.
"Working with Coldstream has been wonderful," he said. "They've been super accommodating and I think pretty excited for doing something new in the park, and this park is beautiful, it's well taken care of, the skate park is awesome, it's just a great facility and we're super happy."
MacLeod spoke to The Morning Star in the middle of the festivities and said the turnout has been encouraging.
"It's really good, it's still early in the day and it's one of those things where we're doing a large festival, and so I think it's going to get busier throughout the evening," he said. "Right now we're actually super happy with the amount of people that are here."
There are some "incredible" bands playing on stage throughout the event, and they hail from all over B.C.
"It's a bit of a dream team today," said MacLeod.
And the skateboarding competition hasn't disappointed.
"The skateboarding is going crazy. Some amazing tricks," he added.
Lillyfest is completely free to attend and is running until 9 p.m. Saturday.
