The Âé¶¹¾«Ñ¡ Rockets dropped a second straight game to the Kamloops Blazers.
After losing to the Blazers in Âé¶¹¾«Ñ¡ Friday (Jan. 26) night, the Rockets lost again, 3-2, in Kamloops on Saturday night.
The Blazers took a 3-0 lead through the first and second periods on goals from Matteo Koci, Josh Kelly and Andrew Thomson.
The Rockets made a goaltender change after Thomson’s goal at 1:50 of the second, replacing Jake Pilon with Jari Kykkanen.
Âé¶¹¾«Ñ¡ finally responded when Dylan Wightman (9) scored on the power play at 19:21 of the second frame with assists going to Andrew Cristall and Gabriel Szturc.
Âé¶¹¾«Ñ¡ made it 3-2 at 1:06 of the third period as Tij Iginla found the back of the net assisted by Hiroki Gojsic and Marek Rocak.
It looked like the Blazers made it 4-2 late in the third.
With the Rockets’ net empty, the Blazers’ Jordan Keller intercepted a pass and fired the puck into the net,
However, the referees signaled no goal as Kamloops was called for too many men on the ice.
The Rockets did not capitalize on the ensuing power play.
Pilon stopped 12 of the 15 shots he faced, while Kykkanen turned away all seven shots fired at him.
Âé¶¹¾«Ñ¡ was 1-2 on the power play, while Kamloops was 0-5.
The Rockets outshot the Blazers 33-22.
Âé¶¹¾«Ñ¡â€™s record now stands at 21-22-3-0 and they sit in sixth place in the Western Conference.
The Rockets are off on a three-game U.S. road trip starting with games in Portland on Jan. 31 and Feb. 2, and then a game against Spokane on Feb. 4.
