The public is invited to party in celebration of the Shuswap Trail Alliance's 20th anniversary.
On June 7, BC Trails Day, the Shuswap Trail Alliance (STA) is hosting its second annual Spring Trails Celebration at the South Canoe Trailhead. For the doubly important day, the STA has booked Salmon Arm ROOTS&Blues favourites Five Alarm Funk (FAF), as well as band The Shades, which be performing at the event.
"With 20 years’ experience, in high voltage funk infusion, FAF has carved a new path of live entertainment," reads an STA media release. "The engagement, the hilarity, the precision and execution have heralded these manic Funk Bots with eight studio albums, two JUNO nominations, three Western Canadian Music Awards and a rap sheet of positive reviews."
Formerly known as 6 Shades of Grey, The Shades' set list reflects their involvement in bands over the years as they play hits from the 50ʼs up to the present, with a variety of genres from country and blues to classic rock and contemporary.
The event, which runs from 4 to 8 p.m.,will have a beverage garden featuring the Barley Station, Shuswap Cider Co., and Sunnybrae Winery, and plenty of dining options with food trucks including Yukon Smash, Tsilhqot'in BBQ and the Tater Shack, along with ShuPops and the Bannock Ladies.
There will also be free face painting and a sand pit with toys for the kids.
“We are grateful to have an opportunity to celebrate our 20th year in operation," said STA executive director Jen Bellhouse. "This is a public event, and we hope to see the entire community including, our municipal and regional partners, the trail volunteers, stewards, trail users and more.
“The collaboration between governments, organizations, and multiple user groups is something to commemorate and the Shuswap Trail Alliance would like the opportunity to celebrate trails with the people who make them possible."
