It's almost time for the Penticton Scottish Festival to come back to town.
Large crowds are set to converge inside King's Park on July 4 and 5, to mark the return of the the event.
Festivities — to begin with a concert on Friday night — will take place at King's Park sports fields (550 Eckhardt Ave. West).
Callum Beaumont, a piping judge from Scotland, will perform along with dancers from the Emily McDonald School of Highland Dance for the concert, which begins at 6:30 p.m.
The music will come before a full day of action on Saturday (July 5). Highland games, pipe band and dance competitions, kids' zone, whisky school, and live entertainment will be among the events featured.
There will also be an appearance from the South Okanagan-based Desert Dogs Agility Club, which will be staging friendly competitions of dog agility at 9:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 1:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.
Saturday's festivities will run from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. An opening ceremony at 12:30 p.m., however, will be led by the Summerland Pipes & Drums.
The Celtic Spirit Lager, a new release from Penticton's Highway 97 Brewery, will also be making its debut at the festival, event organizers said.
As the festival stretches across three outdoor soccer fields, shade is limited, they added in a press release.
