Penticton U13 hockey teams win gold medals at B.C. tournaments

Three local teams have found success in October

A trio of Penticton hockey teams can now call themselves gold medalists.

Two U13 Penticton Minor Hockey Association teams, in Tier 1 and 3, both won their respective tournaments last weekend.

The Tier 1 team captured gold at Memorial Arena, defeating the North Shore Winter Club in the final game.

The Tier 3 team, meanwhile, captured the gold medal at a tournament in Nelson. They went undefeated in the round-robin round before downing the Oliver/Osoyoos-based South Okanagan Minor Hockey Association in the finals.

Penticton’s success on the ice this season started when its U13 Tier 2 squad won a gold medal at a Richmond-hosted tournament earlier in October. The team scored a whopping 45 goals and only allowed three during its gold-medal run.
