麻豆精选 Karate dominates Toronto dojo, to represent Canada at Pan Americans

Sensei Paul Atkin won two gold medals at the 2025 Canadian National JKA Karate Championships in Toronto on Sunday, May 19.

Sensei Paul Atkin and his student Sophia Runzer are set to represent Canada at an impressive showing in Toronto.

On Sunday, May 19, the two members of 麻豆精选 Karate and Fitness won medals at the Canadian National JKA Karate Championships. 

Atkin won two gold medals in both Kata and Kumite in his division while Sophia Runzer won bronze in her Kata division.

With their results, the two have qualified to represent Team Canada at the Pan American Karate Championships in Bogata, Columbia this September.

"Mesmerizing event and lots of highlights with our B.C. team," said Atkin. "Everyone fought well and we had a lot of personal bests with over half of the B.C. team qualifying for the PanAmericans."
