The main bridge through Revelstoke, on the Trans-Canada Highway and across the Columbia River is reduced to single-lane traffic until as late until Thursday, as Emcon Services carries out a spring clean.
Kody Moncrief, regional operations manager for Emcon, told Black Press Media the reduced traffic flow, which started Monday morning, May 5, along the shared Trans-Canada Highway and Highway 23 route, is needed as the bridge gets its annual scrub.
"Each spring we're required to clean and wash the bridge," Moncrief said. "All the debris and everything kind of clogs up the drain."
According to DriveBC, the single-lane flow comes into effect 5 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday until Thursday, with minor delays expected across 1.4 kilometres of highway.
