Lightning sparks 3 wildfires west of Penticton

BC Wildfire Service (BCWS) is responding to a trio of wildfires close in proximity west of Penticton on Friday afternoon (Aug. 29).

Lightning is the suspected cause of the three fires, which were discovered between 2:50 and 3:40 p.m. northeast of the Brent Mountain Protected Area in Hedley.

All fires, classified as out of control, are 0.009 hectares in size, according to BCWS.

One initial attack crew and a provincial helicopter were sent to fight each blaze.
