The Lumby Fire Department got help with water supply and manpower from the Lavington and BX Swan Lake departments in battling a house fire in the 3000 block of Highway 6 Wednesday, Aug. 20.

People living at a home in the 3000 block of Highway 6 near Lumby have been displaced following a Wednesday night fire.

The Lumby Fire Department got the call at around 6 p.m. Aug. 20.

"An RV and a house caught fire and when we arrived there was heavy smoke and heavy flames showing," said Lumby Fire Chief Tony Clayton Thursday, Aug. 21.

"Both are pretty much 100 per cent write-offs."

Twenty members of the Lumby Fire Department battled the fire, and got help from the Lavington and BX Swan Lake departments, both supplying manpower and water tenders, as water had to be shuttled down to the rural property to fight the fire.

The people inside the home got out safely, and there were no injuries.

The cause of the fire has yet to be determined but Clayton said the blaze is not considered suspicious.

The residents had someplace to stay and emergency services was not called to assist.
