1. Seventeen-year-old Emily Epp will leave next week for Britain where she plans to swim across the English Channel鈥攁 distance of 34 kilometres鈥攆rom Dover, England to Calais, France.
Suffice to say, Epp has come a long way since an unnerving experience in the water as a toddler.
鈥淲hen I was little, I was absolutely terrified of water,鈥 Epp recalled. 鈥淚 got hit by a wave once in Tofino and wouldn鈥檛 go back in. I would crawl on my dad鈥檚 (Rob) head and scream, just to stay away from the water any way I could.
Epp is supporting her sister by raising funds for the Canuk Place Children鈥檚 Hospice in Vancouver.
2. B.C. Liberal leader Christy Clark said she and her 42 Liberal MLAs are willing to work with the incoming NDP government on issues her party spoke about in the recent Liberal Speech from the Throne鈥攊ssues the NDP already support.
But Clark said that will only happen if the NDP can 鈥do it right.鈥
Clark celebrated Canada Day in 麻豆精选 and plans to stay as the Liberal leader as well as 麻豆精选-West MLA.

A total of 18 temperature records were broken on July 6 in the province, including four in the Okanagan Valley.
A strong, upper ridge of high pressure over southern B.C. this week is giving high temperatures,鈥 writes Environment Canada.
