Love can be murder, and 'til death do us part might come sooner than later in R.J. Haney's latest whodunit.
The R.J. Haney Heritage Village & Museum issued a casting call for volunteer actors to help commit its latest caper, the interactive Murder Mystery: Wedding Edition, in September.
"This laugh-out-loud evening needs a cast of colourful characters to bring the story to life," Haney said in a social media post. "Guests will work alongside Monty the Mountie to crack the case while enjoying a delicious wedding reception dinner."
The murderous story unfolds with a not-so-blissful bride and groom tying the knot, with the nuptials complicated by suspicious in-laws, a jittery best man, a no-nonsense grandma and a wedding planner hiding secrets of their own.
To bring the crime scene to life, the theatre needs a groom (20-30 years old), mother of the bride (40-55), father of the bride (40-55), mother of the groom (40-55), best man (20-30) maid of honour (20-30), and Monty the Mountie (17+).
Volunteer actors will get complimentary dinner on show nights, recognition in the program and "a chance to make 80 guests per night laugh, gasp and suspect you of murder!"
Actors will have to commit to the two performances on Sept. 19 and 20, as well as three to four rehearsals on evenings or weekends leading up to the shows. To apply, email manager@salmonarmmuseum.org or call 250-832-5243 and provide a short summary of your acting experience before the deadline of Aug. 31 at 4 p.m.
