The swimming advisory that鈥檚 been in place since June 13 at Reiswig Regional Park in Lake Country has been rescinded.

Following guidance from the Interior Health Authority, the Regional District of Central Okanagan (RDCO) confirmed that the water is now safe for swimming.

鈥淩egular testing indicates the water now meets the Guidelines for Canadian Recreational Water Quality,鈥 the RDCO said in a statement Friday (June 20).

RDCO staff routinely collect water samples from several regional beaches, which are then tested and analyzed by Interior Health.

Water quality can fluctuate throughout the summer for a variety of reasons, including weather, runoff from nearby land, outflow from creeks, and even animal waste. Warm temperatures and busy beach days can also affect water quality.

鈥淏each water quality is typically poorer in summer due to warmer water temperatures and the number of people swimming,鈥 the RDCO added.
