Visibility is near zero in parts of the Okanagan and Shuswap on Saturday morning, as Environment Canada warns of hazardous travel conditions due to fog.
鶹ѡ, Vernon and Salmon Arm were issued with fog advisories on the morning of Dec. 30, but conditions are expected to clear by the afternoon.
“Atmospheric conditions are favourable for the development of dense fog,” Environment Canada says in its notice. “The fog is expected to dissipate near noon.”
Environment Canada says fog patches in Penticton, Osoyoos and Summerland are expected to dissipate before the afternoon.
Although the federal forecaster has not issued an advisory for South Okanagan, DriveBC is warning of limited visibility on Highway 97 between Summerland and Osoyoos.
Parts of Highway 3A, between Keremeos and Bobcat Road for 22 kilometres, have also been hit with fog patches.
For the rest of Saturday, much of the B.C. Interior is expected to experience cloudy conditions and a 30 per cent chance of showers through Saturday evening.
Environment Canada’s fog advisory on Saturday also applies to parts of the North Thompson, North Columbia, Boundary and East Kootenay, including Cranbrook.
“Travel is expected to be hazardous due to reduced visibility in some locations.”
