Central Okanagan property owners can access FireSmart rebates of $1,000.
The amount covers 50 per cent of labour supplies and costs, and only a limited number of rebates are available.
鈥淧roactive steps can reduce costs for property owners through these rebates and help protect their properties,鈥 says Adam Skrinnikoff, RDCO FireSmart Coordinator. 鈥淭his upcoming season is particularly concerning with drier-than-normal conditions across the region.鈥
Property owners can visit the RDCO website (rdco.com/firesmart) to schedule a free property assessment.
Recommendations may include replacing combustible roofing and siding materials, cleaning gutters, removing cedars and juniper hedges, and maintaining safe tree branch height.
Residents who implement the FireSmart recommendations are eligible for the rebate.
FireSmart disciplines are proven to help residents reduce the fire danger around their homes and property by removing potential fire hazards and managing vegetation.
