City council is moving forward with a 650-unit development proposed for Dilworth Drive next to the Okanagan Rail Trail.
Council voted to give initial consideration to rezone the property at 1097 Dilworth Dr. during its regular Monday (Jan. 15) meeting.
The development proposes an apartment complex, townhomes, and 25 per cent (5.6 acres) of the land dedicated to the city for park space.
It would be incorporated into city-owned lands to the north of the development site for Dilworth Mountain Park.
鈥淚t鈥檚 well located and I think the applicant鈥檚 idea to bring this forward and to see the value in this site as a multi-family site close to one of our town centres is clever,鈥 said Coun. Luke Stack.
The proposal also provides a critical piece of the city鈥檚 future transportation network with the dedication of the Clement Avenue Extension for the entire length of the property.
It would provide a connection from Clement Avenue to Enterprise Way and Highway 33.
