麻豆精选鈥檚 City Park Dog Run project will chew up another $450,000.
The project, first approved in 2024, was budgeted at $750,000 for construction and $150,000 for irrigation, with an additional $150,000 contribution from reserves, according to a staff report outlining Q2 amendments to the 2025 Financial Plan.
However, delays caused by the need for archaeological permits pushed construction from fall 2024 to spring 2025, with completion now expected this summer.
Staff is requesting another $150,000 to address unforeseen archaeological challenges, supply cost increases, and increased resourcing, according to the report going to council on Aug. 25. A further $150,000 is requested to accelerate work on the Multi-Use Pathway, as outlined in the 10-Year Capital Plan.
鈥淭hese factors require a budget request of $450,000 to cover the extended scope and rising costs and to transfer the Phase 1 reserve contribution into the current phase,鈥 the report states.
The added costs will be covered through reserves and will not affect taxation.
