A four-week Vancouver run of Disney鈥檚 The Lion King started Wednesday night (Aug. 20) in a return of one of the most beloved shows ever to grace the stage.
Until Sept. 14, Broadway Across Canada will bring 32 performances of the hit musical to Queen Elizabeth Theatre in a very big season-ending production for the company.
Tickets are scarce for matinee and evening show times, with some fetching close to $400 on the resale market.
During 10,000-plus performances in North American cities over 22 years, close to 23 million people have witnessed the theatrical magic of Disney鈥檚 The Lion King, full of jaw-dropping visuals and unforgettable music by Elton John and Tim Rice. The story is set in the Serengeti where birds swoop, gazelles leap and Pride Rock emerges from the mist.
Recommended for kids six and older, the award-winning show runs two hours, 30 minutes with one intermission.
In Vancouver, The Lion King plays Tuesday through Friday at 7:30 p.m., Saturday at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., and Sunday at 1 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. There's also a 2 p.m. matinee Thursday, Aug. 21. for show and ticket details.
Looking ahead, include MJ, Moulin Rouge, Les Mis茅rables, Mamma Mia! and Clue.
Running the final week of November 2025, MJ documents the making of Michael Jackson's 1992 Dangerous world tour.
Up next, in January 2026, is Moulin Rouge, Baz Luhrmann鈥檚 revolutionary film come to life onstage.
Another musical set in France, the classic Les Mis茅rables returns to the QE Theatre in the last half of March 2026, followed by the family fun of the ABBA-powered Mamma Mia! (late-May dates) and the game-inspired musical-mystery Clue (July/August 2026).
