A full week of fun is planned in Penticton as residents gear up to celebrate Canada's birthday.
The Penticton Elvis Festival runs from June 27 to 29, before Canada Day festivities take over Gyro Park from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Tuesday (July 1).
Then, on July 4 and 5, the Penticton Scottish Festival returns to King's Park with Highland games, pipe band competitions and more.
Here's what event-goers need to know this week:
Elvis Festival
Gyro Park and Penticton Trade and Convention Centre will serve as the festival's two venues.
Along with professional and non-professional tribute artists, there will also be a "Little Kings" category for a trio of performers aged 15 and under.
The winner of the professional division will head to Memphis, Tenn., and compete at the "Ultimate Elvis Finals" later this year, where they'll have a chance to become the No. 1 Elvis tribute artist in the world.
That individual will be crowned at the convention centre on Sunday, following the competition's finale at 2 p.m.
Canada Day at Gyro Park
Holiday-themed celebrations will begin at 11 a.m., with live performers, face painting, a market, food trucks, bouncy castle, inflatable racecourse and more.
There will also be a citizenship ceremony at noon, organized by South Okanagan Immigrant and Community Services. Some of the nation's newest citizens will honoured with a certificate presented by local dignitaries.
The event, which will wrap up at 3 p.m., is hosted by the City of Penticton and Downtown Penticton Business Improvement Association.
Fireworks above Okanagan Lake Park
The Penticton Lakeside Resort is hosting a fireworks display at 10 p.m. on Canada Day.
Boaters on Okanagan Lake will not be allowed to enter the designated safety zone marked around the barge on the water during the show.
Free transit on Canada Day
Fares on all Penticton-based BC Transit routes will be free on Canada Day.
Buses will be operating on a regular weekday-level basis to provide more frequent connections. Fares will be free for handyDART as well.
In a release, the city said it will also provide a free bike valet service at Gyro Park from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. on July 1.
Penticton Scottish Festival
The annual celebration of Scottish culture kicks off with a free concert at King's Park on Friday (July 4) at 6:30 p.m.
On Saturday (July 5), from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., activities, entertainment, food trucks and a beer garden will be featured.
An opening ceremony will commence at 12:30 p.m., led by the Summerland Pipes & Drums.
