There's a new voice of the Penticton Vees.
Riley Pollock has been announced as the club's director of broadcast and communications, following the resignation of Fraser Rodgers at the end of August.
Pollock, the voice of the University of Calgary Dinos men’s hockey and football programs for the past six years, joins the Vees ahead of their inaugural Western Hockey League (WHL) season.
“I am so excited to join such a storied organization as the Vees transition into the WHL," said Pollock. "Doing play-by-play in the WHL has been a dream of mine since I was young, and I can’t wait to get to work and give this team my all every day."
Pollock takes over for Rodgers, who joined the team ahead of its 2022-2023 BCHL championship season.
“Fraser has called so many memorable moments in Vees hockey history," said Fred Harbinson, the Vees' head coach, general manager and president. "He will always have a special place in our organization. We wish him and his family all the best in the future."
Rodgers' last broadcast in the Vees' booth will be Wednesday (Sept. 3), when the team visits the 麻豆精选 Rockets for pre-season action at Prospera Place. Fans can tune in by listening to Summit 800 AM in Penticton and Summit 98.5 FM in Summerland, starting at 7 p.m.
Pollock, the former digital content manager for the Calgary Stampeders and Calgary Roughnecks, will join the Vees on a pre-season road trip south of the border starting Sept. 12 and 13, when the club battles Seattle and Portland.
Penticton's WHL regular season kicks off Sept. 19,
Its home opener, meanwhile, goes Friday night, Sept. 26, at the South Okanagan Events Centre when 麻豆精选 comes to town.
