Shanda Hill continues to shatter records.
The ultra athlete from Vernon finished the Brazil Ultra Tri Deca in B煤zios on Monday, May 12, setting two records in the process.
The 38 kilometre swim, 1,800 km bike and 422 km run was completed over nine days and Hill set a record for the fastest finish to a women's International Ultra Triathlon Association (IUTA) Deca continuous race with a time of 239 hours, 14 minutes and 22 seconds.
"I honestly can鈥檛 even put into words what it鈥檚 like to witness something like this in person," said her partner Jacs Spence. "Through days of pounding rain, brutal winds, crazy heat, and exhaustion that would break almost anyone, she just kept going. And somehow, she managed to keep doing it with a smile and the grit she鈥檚 known for."
Hill also broke the record for most IUTA Decas ever completed by a female athlete, now with three.
"Shanda is living proof that the only limits we have are the ones we put on ourselves," said Spence. "She just showed us all how far we are really capable of going."
