The UBC Okanagan Heat men鈥檚 and women鈥檚 soccer teams will start their 2025 Canada West seasons with back-to-back games at home on Friday, Aug. 29.
The women鈥檚 team, coming off a second straight appearance in the Canada West quarter-finals, will take on the Victoria Vikes in the opener. The men will follow with a game against their Vancouver sister school, the UBC Thunderbirds, in a Friday night doubleheader at Nonis Field.
The teams will switch opponents for Saturday鈥檚 matchups, with the women facing the defending national champion Thunderbirds and the men going head-to-head with the Vikes.
This year鈥檚 schedule will keep things close to home. The women will play 14 regular season games 鈥� seven of them in 麻豆精选 鈥� against other Pacific division teams. Each opponent will face UBCO twice, with extra matchups against the Thunderbirds and the University of Northern B.C. (UNBC) Timberwolves.
Homecoming weekend is Friday, Sept. 19, when the women face UBC.
鈥淚t鈥檚 always special to play in front of alumni, students and the community,鈥� said head coach Craig Smith.
The women鈥檚 regular season at home wraps up Sunday, Oct. 12 with a game against UNBC, which will also celebrate the team鈥檚 graduating seniors. The final weekend brings a Presidents' Cup home doubleheader against the Thompson Rivers WolfPack on Oct.18 and 19.
The men will play 16 regular season games, eight of them at home. In addition to facing their Pacific division rivals twice, they鈥檒l take on four Prairie division teams. Highlights include home matches against the Calgary Dinos and Lethbridge Pronghorns on Sept. 12 and 13, and a two-game series against UNBC on Oct. 4 and 5.
There is also a Presidents鈥� Cup rivalry road trip to Kamloops to face TRU on Oct. 10 and 11.
The men鈥檚 season wraps at home on Sunday, Oct. 19 against Trinity Western, where fans will also salute the team's graduating seniors.
For both teams, the top four finishers in the Pacific division will move on to the Canada West quarter-finals set for Oct. 24鈥�26, with the final four hosted by the highest-ranked remaining Pacific team from Oct. 31 to Nov. 2.
