Salmon Arm track and field star Vienne Bredick earned silver and bronze in U18 high jump and triple jump respectively at the BC Athletics Championships, adding to other medals won recently at the provincial high school championships.

Salmon Arm track and field athlete Vienne Bredick is having a hopping summer, earning more hardware after jumping over to the recent BC Athletics Championships.

At the event, held in Coquitlam July 4 to 6, the seasoned star competed against female athletes from across the province in the U18 division, her first year at that level.

Despite entering the new age group Bredick took home silver in high jump after clearing 1.63 metres (5.34 feet), behind a competitor with the Langley Mustangs who jumped 1.70 metres (5.57 feet).

In her other event, the triple jump, Bredick earned bronze after jumping 10.98 metres (36.02 feet), coming in behind two other athletes from the Lower Mainland who both cleared just over 11 metres.

"She's very, very good," said Vernon Triple A Track and Field coach Ian Cameron, who she trains with three times a week.
