A recent United States Hockey League (USHL) standout has signed a deal with the Penticton Vees after being selected by the club during the WHL expansion draft.

Goaltender AJ Reyelts inked a WHL Scholarship and Development Agreement with the Vees, the team announced on June 24.

The Minnesota-born Reyelts comes to Penticton after posting a 21-19-1-3 record and 2.66 goals-against average last season with the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders of the USHL.

鈥淚f you are going to win hockey games, you need consistency in goal,鈥 said Fred Harbinson, the Vees' president, general manager, and head coach. 鈥淎J played the most minutes of any goaltender in the USHL last season. His experience will be valuable as we enter our first WHL season.鈥

Before the 2024-2025 campaign, Reyelts starred for Proctor High School in his home state. The 6鈥1鈥, 180-pound netminder compiled a 14-5 record, 1.72 GAA, and .942 save percentage in his final high school season, earning Duluth News Tribune All-Area Player of the Year honours and a finalist spot for Minnesota鈥檚 top senior goaltender award.

The 19-year-old was acquired by the Vees from the Wenatchee Wild on May 7, through the WHL expansion draft.
