RCMP responded after a Salmon Arm resident entered their neighbour's house to complain about a legally parked vehicle.

Police responded after a person entered a neighbour's house and allegedly threatened to do damage over a legally parked vehicle.

At 10:30 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 8, Salmon Arm RCMP received a report from a 20th Street SE resident. A neighbour was outside the caller's house, threatening to smash the caller's vehicle, which was legally parked on the road.

The complainant explained to police that a 43-year-old female neighbour confronted her about parking on the street, "pushed open the complainant鈥檚 house door and entered her residence to yell at the complainant," said Salmon ArM RCMP media relations officer Const. Andrew Hodges in a news release. "The 43-year-old also further threatened to smash the complainant鈥檚 windows and damage her vehicle."

Hodges said the complainant wished only to be left alone "as she was not doing anything wrong."

Police spoke to the neighbour, "who admitted to doing everything the complainant reported," and advised her she could be arrested for various criminal offences. However, Hodges said the neighbour was uncooperative and angry because her son was coming to visit and "would not have a place to park if the complainant was parked in front her house."

"Police advised it was a public roadway open for anyone to park there, and told the woman to go home and leave the complainant alone," said Hodges.
