A wildfire in Manning Park west of Princeton is listed as out of control.

The Holding Creek wildfire was discovered on Sept. 2. By the morning of Sept. 5, it had reached a size of 762 hectares.

The suspected cause of this fire is listed as lightning.

The BC Wildfire Service says the fire is displaying Rank 3 fire behaviour. This means moderate to highly vigorous surface fire with a moderate to fast rate of spread.

There are 34 firefighting personnel and three helicopters at this site.

The wildfire service says firefighting efforts are challenging as multiple bridges in the area have been washed out due to previous flooding. Crews are gaining access to the area by opening old roads.
