UPDATE: Spot wildfire south of Merritt under control

A wildfire close to Howarth Creek was discovered on Monday, July 14.

The fire is now under control, states BC Wildfire Service.

Lightning is the suspected cause of a spot wildfire discovered south of Merritt on Monday night (July 14).

The blaze, as of BC Wildfire Service's (BCWS) Tuesday morning update, is still 0.009 hectares in size and considered out of control.

According to BCWS, the fire is close to Howarth Creek, in the forest area between the Coquihalla Highway and Okanagan Connector/Highway 5A.
