Winter has officially hit the Okanagan.
A snowfall warning hit the entire valley Thursday as amounts of 10 to 20 centimetres were expected.
As the first snowflakes of the season fell, multiple accidents and road closures were also in effect.
Highway 97 near Westwold was closed Thursday morning following a fatal accident.
A couple accidents on the Coquihalla also closed the main artery briefly.
鈥淏e prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions,鈥� states Environment Canada. 鈥淰isibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow. There may be a significant impact on rush hour traffic in urban areas.鈥�
A power outage at Okanagan College鈥檚 Vernon campus also took place, resulting in a B.C. Hydro equipment failure. Classes were cancelled for the morning, but later resumed.
There is a 60 per cent chance of flurries Friday with a high of -1 and nightime low of -7.
