A noise complaint prompted Salmon Arm RCMP to visit an apartment where the occupant was sleeping while "excessively loud music" was blasting from a boombox on July 2, 2025.

A woman received a wake-up call from Salmon Arm RCMP after rocking herself to sleep to the detriment of her neighbours.

On Wednesday, July 2, police received a report of "excessively loud music" that could be heard through the walls and windows of a 5th Street SE apartment.

Upon arrival, responding RCMP heard the song Black and White by Three Dog Night blasting from a 1990's boombox, said media relations officer Andrew Hodges in a news release.

Familiar with the apartment's resident, police attempted to wake her from an open window. When that didn't work, police reached through the window and unplugged the boombox.

"The resident eventually woke up and went outside for a smoke where she was met by police," said Hodges. "Police advised the woman that future incidents may result in a by-law ticket fine for noise.

"The woman replied she would rob a bank to pay the fine, before going back to bed."
