Penticton Search and Rescue helped rescue an injured mountain biker from Skaha Bluffs on May 5. Due to the terrain, the injured rider had to be transported by long-line to the ambulance.

Penticton and District Search and Rescue were dispatched for the second time in four days to Skaha Bluffs to assist with getting an injured person to a waiting ambulance.

According to a post to PENSAR's social media, they were called out on May 5 after a mountain biker was injured.

How and where exactly the individual was injured wasn't shared, but they were located in steep and difficult to access terrain.

The biker had been part of a group, who called for the rescue and provided precise GPS coordinates for the rescue team to find.

Due to their injuries, the individual had to be long-lined out by helicopter to a waiting ambulance staged at Painted Rock Winery.

"A huge thank you to Top Flight Helicopters for their expert flying and quick response, and to Painted Rock Winery for generously allowing the use of their property as a landing zone," wrote PENSAR. "We wish the rider a swift recovery and commend everyone on scene for their quick thinking and preparedness鈥攊t made all the difference today."

Search and rescue ground crews were on scene providing support and assisting with coordination throughout the rescue.

The May 5 response bookended the weekend for PENSAR, as they were called out to Skaha Bluffs on May 2 after a climber fell three to four metres and needed transport to a waiting ambulance.
