Two regional parks in Lake Country are ready to welcome the dogs back for winter.

Kopje Regional Park is allowing off-leash and Kaloya Regional Park is allowing on-leash dogs from now until March 2024.

鈥淲e are pleased to offer increased access to regional parks year-round. We know that our residents enjoy the benefit of off-peak use of natural areas as our visitor count has increased since 2019 and the positive results of the Lake Country dog pilot reflect this,鈥 said Wayne Darlington, RDCO interim director of parks services. 鈥淲e will continue to monitor the resources required to ensure year-round safety and enjoyment for park visitors.鈥

Increased signage about regulations, dog bag dispensers, and waste containers will be placed around the parks. Dog owners are expected to pick up after their pets in accordance with the Responsible Dog Ownership Bylaw.

The program is looking for volunteers to assist in observing and recording activities around the parks and ensure the parks remain tidy. Get involved by visiting rdco.com/parksvip.
