The City of 麻豆精选 told organizers of Rock The Lake to turn down the volume.

Complaints following last year鈥檚 three-day music festival held in the parking lot of Prospera Place, prompted the city to tell organizers they must lower the volume this year between music sets and change the direction of some speakers to reduce the sound level affecting nearby residents.

Doug Nicholas, sport and event services manager with the city said the instructions were given after feedback from the public following the inaugural Rock The Lake event last year.

鈥淪ome people felt it was a little too loud,鈥 said Nicholas, adding city staff will monitor the event to make sure the new rules are being followed. In addition to the Delta Grand hotel across the street, there are a number of high-rise residential building close the music festival site.

Elli Naderi with Prospera Place said in addition to the changes the city asked for, organizers also plan to monitor each act to keep down the volume level so as not to be a problem for the venue鈥檚 neighbours.

Rock the Lake started Friday night and will run today and tomorrow, featuring a number of Canadian rock bands including April Wine, Honeymoon Suite, Toronto, Platinum Blonde, Doug and Slugs, Helix, Chilliwack, Rik Emmett, Sass Jordon and Kim Mitchell.

Today and tomorrow, the music will run between 2:30 p.m. and 10 p.m. Last night it started at 5 p.m. and ran until 10 p.m.

As of Friday evening, organizers said there were just a few one-day tickets left for Sunday.
