1. Weather outlook: The weather office had promised us snow showers in the Okanagan Valley overnight. That didn't happen. Now the forecast is 60% for rain or flurries this morning, shifting to rain in the afternoon. High of 4 C with winds up to 12 km/h.
2. Opening day: Big White opens today. The alpine base is 70 cm, it's overcast with variable visibility and winds are calm. Lara's Gondola starts spinning at 7:45 a.m., the Ridge Rocket Express and Plaza Chair will be open from 8:45 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. today. Lift tickets are 50% off until further notice.
3. Awarded: Young aboriginal athletes from B.C.'s Interior have received regional awards. The six youths are eligible for the 2016 Premier鈥檚 Awards for Aboriginal Youth Excellence in Sport, at a conference in 麻豆精选 March 21-24.
