The Shuswap is currently at Drought Level 0, though the Salmon River's levels remain a risk to aquatic life.

Though the Shuswap area is at Drought Level 0, there is still some concern regarding a couple local waterways.

In its Drought Monitoring Summary released Thursday, Aug. 21, the province said recent rain brought relief to much of the province, though there are still some dry spots.

Locally, the Salmon River and Bessette Creek near Lumby that is part of the Shuswap River watershed have flows that "remain at levels of risk to aquatic ecosystems."

As of Aug. 13,, was largely in line with levels recorded on the same date since 2009.

The summary also said that streamflows are expected to decline again with the return of warm, dry weather that will continue into next week.
