Coldstream home destroyed by flames, RCMP investigating

Flames ad black smoke seen from Kal Beach

A Coldstream home was destroyed after a fire tore through the residence on Thursday afternoon.

The blaze broke out around 2:30 p.m. on Kalview Drive.

Fire crews battled flames in temperatures reported to be more than 34 C.

Emergency personnel remained on scene for hours looking for hot spots.

RCMP blocked Kalview Drive during the incident, keeping area residents away while the scene remained active.

The fire appears to be contained to the one structure.

It's unknown if there are any injuries.

Kyle McLellan said he saw the fire from Kalamalka Lake Beach.

"Took the fire trucks over 10 mins to even start heading that way," he said. "House was gone in minutes."

As of about 5 p.m. Thursday, RCMP were reportedly investigating the possibility of a body inside the home.

The cause of the blaze is not known.
