The City of West Â鶹¾«Ñ¡ is continuing its watermain flushing in the Rose Valley Water Service Area shifts to a new zone beginning Wednesday, June 25.
This next section stretches from about Lakeview Cove Road east to Boucherie Road, and approximately Menu Road north to Ogden Road ().
An isolated, precautionary water quality advisory will be in place for this zone during the flushing. The advisory is expected to remain until further notice.
The city has now reduced the size of each flushing zone—a change made in response to public feedback. The goal is to give residents a clearer idea of when and where crews will be working.
Flushing in this area is scheduled to take place from June 25 to July 4, and includes the following streets:
- 900–1100 block of Stevens Road
- Concord Road
- Thomas Road
- Colleen Road
- 1200 block of Hudson Road
- 1000–1200 block of Hudson Road
- Paula Road
- Lynden Road
- Michael Drive
- Joyce Road
- Trevor Drive
- Ourtoland Road
Crews will be working Monday to Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., with some possible evening or weekend work if needed. The schedule may shift depending on weather or other conditions.
Watermain flushing is done to clear out sediment—like manganese—that naturally builds up in the water pipes. The process involves flushing high-pressure water through hydrants to clean the system.
Residents might notice a temporary drop in water pressure or discoloured water. These effects should be short-lived and only happen while crews are flushing mains.
As a precaution, the city advises parents of infants not to use tap water to mix baby formula while flushing is underway in their zone, due to the risk of increased manganese in the water.
Clean drinking water is available at the bulk fill station at Shannon Lake and Asquith Roads.
Flushing is now complete in the West Â鶹¾«Ñ¡ Business Park and Boucherie Centre area, and the related water quality advisory there has been lifted.
