Residents of IR#9 on Westbank First Nation (WFN) are being asked to limit water use on Thursday, July 3 as crews complete a critical upgrade at the local water station.
Workers will connect the first of two new backup generators at the water station as part of ongoing improvements. This requires an eight hour shutdown of the main water system from approximately 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
While water will still be available throughout the day, it will come from the stored reservoir supply.
Residents are being asked to use water for essential needs only during the shutdown. That means avoiding high-use activities like:
- Doing laundry
- Washing vehicles
- Watering lawns or gardens
- Filling pools, hot tubs, or splash pads
- Taking long showers
The work is part of a larger plan to improve water reliability on IR#9 by ensuring power backups are in place during emergencies or outages.
