UPDATE: Pedestrian suffers critical injuries in Highway 33 crash

UPDATE 11/7

The pedestrian stuck on Highway 33 on Monday has suffered critical injuries, according to BC Highway Patrol.

Around 11:40 a.m., a pedestrian was struck by a gravel truck at the on Highway 33 and Cardinal Creek Road.

BC Highway Patrol Âé¶¹¾«Ñ¡ RCMP, Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service (ICARS), Commercial Vehicle Safety Enforcement (CVSE), Fire Rescue and BC Emergency Health Services (BCEHS) all attended the scene. Emergency services transported the pedestrian to hospital.

While it’s early in the investigation, it is believed drugs and alcohol are not involved. The truck driver is cooperating with the RCMP.

Cardinal Creek Road is closed at Highway 33 after a pedestrian was struck by a gravel truck.

The incident happened about 12:30 p.m. Monday.

Highway 33 is open but traffic is slow going in the area.

It’s unclear what caused the pedestrian to be struck or what their injuries are.

DriveBC expects the road to be closed until 5 p.m.
