The president of the Okanagan Symphony Society (OSS) says the release of music director and conductor Rosemary Thomson from her contract was done after a “thorough examination of the available information.”
In an emailed statement Judy Burns said the OSS board consulted expert advice, evaluated options, and performed a careful analysis before making a difficult decision.
“The OSS board is in a challenging position as the information currently being shared publicly represents a partial perspective of the situation and understandably creates questions in the mind of the public, including our patrons and sponsors.”
Burns adds the OSS will also protect the privacy and rights of all individuals involved and will not be sharing any further information.
Thomson termination was the subject of an internal email intended for OSS members that was made public on Dec. 6.
