Dan Albas, the MP for Okanagan Lake West-South 麻豆精选, has stated his support for party leader Pierre Poilievre.
In the federal election on April 28, Albas was elected with 50.91 per cent of the vote. The election was his fifth consecutive election win. He was one of 144 Conservative Party of Canada members elected.
鈥淚 have had the opportunity to speak with a large number of my Conservative colleagues over the past 48 hours,鈥 Albas said in a post on the X social media platform on May 1. 鈥淔or the record, we are all 100 per cent solidly behind our leader @PierrePoilievre. We ran a solid campaign & now have a larger and stronger official opposition as a result.鈥
The Conservatives are the official opposition in this election, as the Liberal Party of Canada, under Mark Carney, won 169 of the 343 seats in the House of Commons.
Poilievre, the leader of the Conservative Party since 2022, had served as a Member of Parliament since 2004.
In the 2025 election, he lost his seat in the riding of Carleton. Liberal Bruce Fanjoy received 50.83 per cent of the vote, while Poilievre had 45.83 per cent of the vote.
Also on May 1, Albas took issue with comments about internal conflicts within the Liberal Party as a result of the federal election and Poilievre鈥檚 loss of his seat.
鈥淚 see certain journalists peddling a 鈥榗ivil war鈥 narrative. I think they have been watching too many Avenger鈥檚 movies,鈥 he posted on X.
