The West 麻豆精选 RCMP arrested a man well-known to police on Tuesday, Oct. 24.

Around 10:45 a.m., an officer recognized the man as he was driving a grey GMC truck that was registered to a different person. When the suspect, who has many warrants for his arrest, noticed the officer, he drove away at a high rate of speed and crashed into a property in the 3100 block of Thacker Drive.

After crashing, the suspect got out of the vehicle and began to flee on foot, running through several yards, fences, and vineyards. He eventually entered a house in the 1000 block of Sunnyside Road, which was occupied by a man and an elderly woman.

The RCMP found the man, who continued to resist arrest before being taken into custody. On top of these outstanding warrants, the RCMP has recommended many new charges.

鈥淚f it weren鈥檛 for the sharp observation of the local RCMP officer, this individual, whose actions demonstrated a complete disregard for others, might still be at large,鈥 says 麻豆精选 RCMP media relations officer Const. Mike Della-Paolera. 鈥淔urthermore, we are extremely grateful that in his attempt to avoid arrest, no citizens were harmed.鈥
