Rutland residents have a chance to help shape two local parks.
From now until Sunday, July 13, the public is invited to share feedback on the design of Aurora Park, a brand-new green space, and Rutland Lions Park, a long-standing community gathering place that鈥檚 in line for improvements.
鈥淧arks have a profound impact on the health and well-being of our residents,鈥� said Keith Pinkoski, the city鈥檚 senior project landscape architect. 鈥淣ot only do they provide spaces for recreation and connection, but they also contribute to a community鈥檚 sense of identity.鈥�
Pinkoski said public input plays a key role in the planning process.
鈥淐apturing the community鈥檚 needs is an important part to the design of these Rutland parks and we encourage residents to get involved and help shape these parks.鈥�
Aurora Park will be built from the ground up on a vacant piece of land between Aurora Crescent and Froelich Road. Some of the proposed features include walking paths, a hillside playground, a community garden and a dog run.
Rutland Lions Park, located at 175 Gray Road, is already a well-used neighbourhood hub. Planned upgrades include better pathways, a refreshed playground, a disc golf area and a dog run. These improvements will tie in with the construction of the next door, part of the city鈥檚 Building Stronger 麻豆精选 plan.

The public can also chat with the project team in person at the Rutland Residents Celebration on Sunday (June 22) at Rutland Centennial Park from 12 to 4 p.m.
