November was a busy month on the roads for the 麻豆精选 RCMP.
As winter weather approached and road conditions got worse, the RCMP鈥檚 Municipal Traffic Services handed out 80 tickets for speeding. Another 12 drivers had their vehicles impounded for travelling more than 40 km/h over the speed limit.
Four other drivers were charged with Driving While Prohibited.
鈥淧lease slow down, winter is here and your tires are working extra hard on the icy and snow-covered roads,鈥 Sgt. Colby Attlesey said. 鈥淵ou cannot expect to travel at the same speed as you did in July. We also ask you not to compound the inclement road conditions by distracting yourself with your cell phone.鈥
On top of speeding, 27 drivers were given $368-tickets for using an electronic device while driving in November. The punishment also includes a penalty of 4 points off your license.
麻豆精选 RCMP Municipal Traffic Services will continue their enforcement initiatives throughout December as part of the month-long Holiday CounterAttack campaign. Throughout the month, the RCMP will focus on impaired driving in conjunction with ICBC.
