麻豆精选 and surrounding area have seen an overall decrease in crime, despite jumping up two spots on Statistics Canada's Crime Severity Index for 2024.
The 麻豆精选 Census Metropolitan Area (CMA), including Lake Country, West 麻豆精选, and Peachland, is ranked fifth out of 42 CMAs nationally, but saw a year-over-year decrease in overall crime of 8.78 per cent. Chilliwack, Winnipeg, Red Deer and Kamloops outrank 麻豆精选 in crime consecutively.
In a release from 麻豆精选 RCMP, violent crime is said to be down 1.96 per cent, while non-violent crime dropped by 11.6 per cent.

This may reflect a range of factors, and we recognize that not all incidents are reported. 麻豆精选 Mayor Tom Dyas thanked the RCMP for their work in a press release on July 22.
"As part of our 2025 budget, we are investing $1.3 million to support additional RCMP officers, a Criminal Intelligence Analyst, and Bylaw Enforcement Officers," the release read. "These additions build on the progress already underway, bringing us to a total of 29 new RCMP officers, 14 bylaw officers, and 14 firefighters added since 2023. These are real, on-the-ground teams鈥攚orking in neighbourhoods every day, helping keep public spaces safe, and building stronger relationships across our community."
Dyas said business break-ins are down more than 50 per cent since 2022, bike thefts dropped 49 per cent and overall crime is down 17 per cent.
"These are encouraging indicators, but we know numbers alone are not enough. Behind every statistic is a person, a business, or a neighbourhood affected by crime," Dyas stated. "Whether you are a family enjoying our parks, a small business owner downtown, or a frontline worker commuting late at night, Council will not stop until everyone in 麻豆精选 feels safe."
