BC Transit, 麻豆精选 RCMP investigating crash between city bus, ambulance

RCMP are investigating but its not criminal in nature

A 麻豆精选 city bus collided with an ambulance on Bernard Ave on April 4.

No criminal investigation is taking place after a BC Ambulance travelling east on Bernard Avenue with its lights and sirens activated was hit by a BC Transit bus carrying passengers on Friday, April 4.

The crash occurred just before 7:10 p.m. at Bernard Avenue and Bertram Street and according to witnesses, the ambulance and a fire truck were seen "tending to a situation" at St. Paul Street and Bernard, prior to the collision.

Passengers in the bus were able to exit without incident and no injuries were reported. The 麻豆精选 RCMP confirmed minor injuries were sustained by the paramedics on the ambulance that was hit. 

Emergency services remained on scene for four hours after the crash.

BC Transit stated to Black Press Media that they are aware of Friday night's crash and are currently investigating.

"Our thoughts are with all parties involved and impacted by this incident, and BC Transit thanks emergency services for their fast response and attending to the transit operator and ambulance driver," said BC Transit in a statement. "Our top priority is safety, and BC Transit and our contracted operating partner, Transdev Canada, are undertaking an investigation into this incident. We are also supporting the police investigation."

RCMP are investigating but it is not criminal in nature.
