Another sweltering day in B.C. prompted more heat records to shatter, according to Environment Canada.

The province saw 16 records tumble for heat on August 25, with several in the Okanagan and Cariboo regions.

麻豆精选's high of 36.6 Celsius broke the previous record of 36.1 C, set in 1958. Kamloops reached 37.3 C, breaking the 35.5 C high set in 2022.

Merritt and Princeton also broke near-thirty-year-old records, with Merritt's 36.9 C high-water mark breaking the 36 degree mark in 1996. Princeton's previous 1996 record of 36.4 C was toppled by a 37.5 C high on Monday.

It was the second consecutive day of broken heat records for the four towns, as the warm weather is set to continue into next week. Environment Canada has issued a heat warning for the South Okanagan, with temperatures between 35 and 39 C.

In the Cariboo region, Cache Creek, Clearwater, Clinton, Lillooet, Lytton, Sparwood and Williams Lake all broke records. Lytton's 41.3 C high was tops in the province, breaking its own 37.2 mark set in 1934.
