Community concerns about open drug trafficking, violent crime, and public disorder helped lead to a crackdown by West 麻豆精选 RCMP.
Over the past several weeks, the Crime Reduction Unit (CRU) conducted approximately 20 targeted investigations in the downtown core.
These investigations resulted in multiple arrests and the seizure of illicit drugs, currency, drug trafficking equipment, and dangerous weapons, an RCMP media release states.
鈥淭he safety of our downtown core is a top priority for the West 麻豆精选 RCMP," said Cpl. Bryan Mulrooney with the CRU. 鈥淥ur team is committed to disrupting criminal activity and ensuring residents, business owners, and visitors feel safe in their community.鈥�
Officers seized quantities of suspected fentanyl, methamphetamine, and cocaine, as well as prohibited weapons, including firearms, knives, and bear spray. Police say approximately 75,000 lethal doses of fentanyl were taken off the streets.
The enforcement is part of a larger, ongoing strategy to reduce crime in areas identified by crime trend analysis and community feedback. These efforts involve high-visibility patrols, covert surveillance, and coordinated operations with other specialized RCMP units.
