Central Okanagan Search and Rescue (COSAR) are in the Kootenays helping to locate a missing hiker.
Four COSAR members headed to the Jumbo Pass area on Aug. 28 to assist Kaslo SAR.
The request for mutual aid initially came on Aug. 25, when Kaslo SAR asked for ground searchers and a K9 team to support efforts near the Moraine Trail at the north end of Kootenay Lake. The search operated in steep mountainous terrain, with responders accessing the area by helicopter.
COSAR鈥檚 K9 team was used in planning, but resources were initially held back as Kaslo SAR conducted its first operational period, a post on COSAR鈥檚 Facebook account states.
While COSAR's dog team remained behind, two members of the drone team and two rescue techs on AR1 (helicopter) assisted KSAR.
We would like to thank the Air Rescue One Helicopter Winch Society (AROHWS) for providing flight crew, winch, and rescue helicopter, the post reads.
This is COSAR鈥檚 fifth call in six days.
