Fight me! Swordfighters duel at Grand Forks' Fork Fight, 2025

Historical fencers from across Western Canada, Washington State, cross swords for medals, prizes and camraderie.

Historical European martial artists crossed swords for medals, points and glory at Fork Fight, 2025 at the Gospel Chapel during the weekend of Aug. 9 and 10.

The weekend tournament kicked off on the afternoon of Aug. 9 with 17 competitors from the Lower Mainland, Vancouver Island, Vernon, 麻豆精选, Calgary, and Washington State facing each other in a series of formal longsword duels for points going towards finals later in the day and North American standings for future tournaments. By the end, there were four winners in the medal round, and two sportsmanship award recipients for their effort and honourable play.

Sunday's events included a more informal tournament, with fighters taking up weapons they normally don't fight with to learn new skills.

The Fork Fight, 2025 winners are:

  • Gold and grand champion; Chad Herbert, Comox Valley Combat Guild. He also received an invitation to fight in a Florida tournament with all expenses paid.
  • Silver: Collin Bishop, 麻豆精选,
  • Bronze; Eugene Kim, Spokane, Wash.,
  • Fourth Place; Craig Meyer, Vernon.

Sportsmanship awards for playing with honour and determination went to David Draper and Brenna Wiens, who received gold nougat produced by Two Cowboys in Greenwood.
